Zoom! Whitening in Lincoln, NE

Zoom! Whitening in Lincoln, NE

Are you unhappy with the appearance of your teeth? Perhaps they're not as white as they can be, and you want them a few shades whiter. If so, instead of turning to the store-bought whitening kits and trays, you should consider having the professional Zoom whitening treatment done by our dentist in Lincoln, NE.

WHAT IS ZOOM WHITENING?

The Zoom whitening system is a bleaching treatment used in many dental offices around the country. It's used to lighten the discoloration of your dentin and enamel. Things like smoking and drinking coffee, tea, red wine, or soda can cause discoloration. Your teeth can also become darkened and stained due to the aging process.

Here at Korte Family Dentistry, we use the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp with the Zoom in-office procedure to accelerate the bleaching process, which activates the 25% hydrogen peroxide whitening solution. With the breaking down of the hydrogen peroxide, oxygen starts entering your dentin and enamel to bleach the stains and leave your tooth structure unchanged.

Zoom Whitening is effective, safe, and very quick. It's also the perfect solution if you're looking for instant results. Zoom whitening's convenience, when compared to days of gradual whitening through the use of wearing trays, makes it the ideal solution for busy individuals.

HOW ZOOM WHITENING WORKS

Before our Lincoln, NE dentist, Dr. Allen Korte, decides that Zoom in-office teeth whitening is a great solution for you, he'll first give you a thorough dental exam of your gums and teeth to make sure they're in good health. He'll also discuss your lifestyle habits and oral hygiene habits with you to determine if you'd benefit from teeth whitening.

We may also recommend you have a whitening treatment done if you're planning on other types of cosmetic dental treatments like:

  • Composite bonding
  • Veneers

This ensures a better match between your natural dentition and the restoration. Depending on your teeth's condition and your goals for changing your teeth's appearance, whitening may or may not be your best solution.

During your consultation and examination, Dr. Korte also takes note of any existing dental work you've had, like veneers and crowns that won't respond to standard whitening agents.

Once he's checked your teeth's current shade, one of our hygienists will take you through the Zoom whitening steps:

  • Prepare, cover, and protect your lips, gums, and eyes
  • Accelerate the bleaching process with the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp. The UV light will activate the 25% hydrogen peroxide whitening gel.
  • For three or four 15-minute sessions, we'll apply the whitening gel and break down the hydrogen peroxide with the Zoom lamp.
  • After each session, we'll remove the old gel and apply a fresh layer
  • The whole treatment will take about two hours

AFTER YOUR ZOOM WHITENING TREATMENT

We'll provide you with a home-use Zoom touch-up kit that will include custom-fitted whitening trays. We'll provide you with directions on how to use your touch-up kit.

You'll want to avoid certain food and drinks like red wine, coffee, and tea, or at least consume them moderately, so you don't stain your teeth again. You'll also be advised to quit using tobacco products.

Brush and floss daily to keep stains from reforming and schedule regular dental teeth cleanings.

You might experience some sensitivity during the Zoom whitening treatment. You may feel tingling sensations in your teeth during and after your procedure, but typically these will go away within a day or two.

Your teeth should remain whiter than they were before the treatment if you follow all Zoom post-whitening care directions.
